As part of the continuing training for cooperatives, the City Cooperative and Development Office held on Wednesday a perfume making and skills training to identified cooperatives from the Poblacion District.

Edna P. Haspe, CCDO- Cooperative Livelihood Training Center Head, told Madayaw Davao on Wednesday that this is the first schedule for this year for the CCDO funded training for coops in the city’s 11 political districts.

She said that their district offices identify training participants.

“Ang among mga funded skills training amo nang gibahin-bahin sa atong 11 political district.
Ang karon población ang nakakuha sa atong perfume making sila ang nag select or nag identify sa atong participants. (Our funded skills training has already been distributed across our 11 political districts. For now, Poblacion has received the perfume-making training, and they were the ones who selected or identified the participants),” she said.

Complementary to the skills training are the financial assistance to coops who are willing to make it their business.

“Nakita man gud nato for many years kadtong gusto mag negosyo usahay kulangan ang ilang kapital so in the form of loan naa ta’y Php 10,000-20-000 (We have seen for many years that those who want to start a business sometimes lack sufficient capital, so we provide Php 10,000–Php 20,000 in the form of a loan),” Haspe said, adding that the requirements include cooperative membership and certificate of training attended.

She said that this is provided as a start-up capital which can be paid monthly or quarterly.

They also included a one-hour financial literacy, which will be helpful for coops once they build their business.

Meanwhile, the CCDO also offers training not only for coop members but also to Davao City constituents who wish to avail of skills training.

These trainings are open for groups or organizations within Davao City.

Haspe said that interested parties may email (coop@davaocity.gov.ph, citycooperative.davao@yahoo.com) or visit the CCDO office at the City Hall Annex along Magallanes St. or the Magnegosyo Ta’ Day Training Center located at SIR Matina.

Other trainings include candle making, home care products preparation, bread and pastry, fuzzy wire-flower making, digital printing, dress-making, rag-making, and aside from that they also have agri-based such as swine production and mushroom production. CIO
