The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has reinforced its emergency response protocols by prepositioning ambulances and rescue vehicles in strategic areas across the city to ensure faster and uninterrupted emergency services for Dabawenyos.
Ret. Col. Alfredo Baloran, Head of the CDRRMO, said that CDRRMO has prepositioned ambulances and rescue vehicles outside their main base to cut response times and conserve fuel because the city’s crisis response services cannot be compromised.
“Dili pwede ma hamper ang atoang services para sa atoang mga kaigsounan. Kay dili man gud nato matag-an ang mga emergencies, ang mga panghitabo nga kinahanglan gyud ta mu respond. Pero, naa ta’y mga ipatuman na mga contingency plan. Ang contingency plan namo is nag recommend mi nga mag preposition mi sa amoang mga ambulances and other rescue vehicles outside diria sa atoang main base sa atoang 911 (Our services to Dabawenyos cannot be hampered. We cannot predict emergencies and the events that we need to respond to. But, we have contingency plans that we will implement. Our contingency plan recommends that we preposition our ambulances and other rescue vehicles outside our main base at 911),” he told Madayaw Davao over Davao City Disaster Radio on April 13, 2026.
Under the contingency plan, ambulances are now stationed in strategic locations including Ulas Shell Station, City Hall grounds, and Bajada area – with complete personnel on duty.
He added that barangay response vehicles will continue to serve their communities, but when fuel shortages limit their operations, the CDRRMO steps in to ensure that the residents are not left unattended.
Baloran further reminded the public not to dispose of cigarette butts carelessly, refrain from open burning in farms and upland areas, and closely monitor household appliances and charging devices to prevent fires and overheating.
“Gina inform nato ang publiko nga kung pwede iwasan nato ang pataka og labay ug mga kining mag cigarette butts or kining mag daob ta sa atoang kabukiran, sa atoang uma nga atoang mapasagdaan nga dili nato mabantayan (We would like to inform the public that if possible, we should avoid carelessly throwing away cigarette butts or littering in our mountains and fields, which we might overlook and unnoticed),” he said.
The CDRRMO also urged everyone to cooperate in conserving resources in order to ensure readiness during critical situations and guarantee that emergency services remain accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of every Dabawenyo.
“Ginahangyo namo sa publiko nga unta tabangan mi ninyo sa pag tipid sa atoang resources kay aron ma reserve nato, ma gamit nato in times of emergency (We urge everyone to help us conserve our resources so that we can reserve and use them in times of emergency),” he added. CIO
