The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), in line with the National Disaster Resilience Month, eyes to train purok disaster volunteers.
CDDRMO Head Alfredo Baloran, in an interview Monday, bared that they seek to equip these volunteers with skills such as first aid to enable them to immediately assist in disaster or emergency situations.
“We have to capacitate and we have to organize our disaster volunteers per purok. That is our main objective. Na-organize na nato per barangay na BDRRMCS so we will go down to puroks and sitios kay kinahanglan nay volunteers per sitio (We have to capacitate and we have to organize our disaster volunteers per purok. That is our main objective. We have already organized per barangay BDRRCS so we will go down to puroks and sitios because we need to have volunteers per sitio),” he said.
Baloran said that in observing NDRM the CDRRMO will conduct on July 1 a townhall meeting with barangay chairmen, secretaries, disaster focal persons, and SK chairs to discuss issues and concerns in the preparation of unpredictable events and calamities.
In a bid to save lives and help those who need blood, a mobile blood donation drive will also be held on July 17 at the CDRRMO parking bay, in line with the month-long observation.
On July 19, 2026, a showcase of DRRM vehicle and equipment at the Coastal Road will also take place.
A tree-planting activity will be held at Barangay Eden Toril as closing event for the NDRM.
Baloran said that the activities were planned in accordance with the energy and fuel-saving guidelines set by the City Government. CIO
