Dabawenyos are reminded not to panic, practice duck, cover, and hold, and check for damages in buildings and establishments following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected Davao City on June 8.
“Dili ta magpanic because kung magpanic ta, it may cause an accident. Obserbahan nato ang duck, cover, and hold, and adto g’yud ta sa safe area kung asa dapit mo nga safe sa inyo’ng lugar then hulaton ninyo nga maundang ang pagtay-og sa yuta (Let’s not panic, because if we panic, it may cause an accident. Practice duck, cover, and hold, and go to the safe area wherever that is in your location, then wait until the ground shaking stops),” LtCol. Alfredo Baloran, Head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said in an interview.
Dabawenyos are also urged to report cracks and damages in buildings and establishments.
“Kung naa mo’y nakita sa inyong mga establisyemento nga mga cracks, hairline cracks or kung dagko ba na sya or gagmay ilabi na gyud no sa mga buildings kung aduna’y mga damage ilabi na sa inyong mga columns, ang mag beams, palihog ayaw lang sa sudli Ninyo ang inyong mga establisimyento. Ireport dayon na sa atoang opisina aron maadtoan dayon na sa atoang mga risk assessment team (If you see any cracks in your establishments — hairline cracks, whether large or small — especially in buildings, if there is any damage, particularly to your columns and beams, please do not enter your establishments. Report it immediately to our office so that our risk assessment team can go and check it right away),” he added.
Baloran added that there are no reported casualties and damages as of this writing.
Classes in all levels, both public and private, and work in all local and national government offices within the city were also suspended immediately. CIO
