The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) proudly blazed a trail in disaster preparedness as it successfully conducted the first-ever showcase of Disaster Response Capacity on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Davao City Coastal Road, displaying specialized disaster response vehicles and equipment that symbolize the city’s disaster preparedness.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message delivered by Alfredo Baloran CDRRMO Head, said that the city’s investment in specialized equipment is vital to protecting Dabawenyos and enhance its emergency capabilities.
“The showcase of disaster response capacity and assets not only serves as a testament to our shared commitment to strengthen disaster preparedness but also highlights our existing and newly acquired disaster response vehicles and specialized equipment that further enhance the operational capacity and emergency response capabilities of the City Government of Davao,” he said.
The exhibition featured dozens of firetrucks and rescue vehicles, as well as the Davao Central 911 ambulance bus which is a high-capacity medical vehicle equipped with life-support facilities capable of handling up to 15 patients simultaneously.
Among the vehicles showcased is the Davao City Emergency Central 911 L39 Rosenbauer ladder truck that is capable of reaching up to the 16th floor, which is essential for high-rise rescue operations.
Beyond the physical vehicles on display, Baloran also noted the city’s proactive defense strategy which includes early warning systems, coastal cameras and a citywide siren network for immediate public information broadcasts during emergencies.
Baloran also expressed their commitment to show everyone, not only the Dabawenyos, the capability of Davao City when it comes to disaster preparedness.
“As part of our celebration sa atoang National Disaster Resilience month, ipakita nato kung unsay mga gamit ang naa nata sa Davao City ug unsa pa ang dapat nato iprovide. So, manghinaot ko sa tabang sa tanan mga Dabawenyo nga kining atong mga kagamitan, atoa ning gamiton sa tama and kinahanglan pod nato ampingan para sa katawhan (As part of our celebration of the National Disaster Resilience month, we showcase what are the equipment we already have in Davao City and what else we need to provide. So, I hope for the help of all Dabawenyos that we will use our equipment properly and also take care of it for the benefit of the people),” he added.
With the success of the inaugural event, the CDRRMO also plans to conduct a similar activity each year to showcase the city’s progress in disaster readiness and response. CIO
