The Davao City Library and Information Center (DCLIC) is bringing literature closer to Dabawenyos as it leads a writing literacy skills enhancement in celebration of the National Literature Month.
On April 28, 2026, the DCLIC will conduct a Writing Literacy Skills Enhancement: Quick Learn Session at Archdiocesan Nourishment Center- Talomo, which aims to sharpen the writing skills of young learners, encourage creativity, self-expression and a deeper appreciation for literature.
Lelian Firmeza, Daycare Worker, Children’s section, of DCLIC said that the library continues to innovate mobile literacy programs, offering book reading, storytelling, arts and crafts as well as educational play in diverse spaces from parks to community centers.
“Through our Davao City Library and Information Center, atong mobile mag participate ta, we have books to share nga idisplay didtoa, na magbasa sila, mag play anything to entertain the children. Naa pod magtudlo og basa ani sa atoang mga staff, mobile staff (Through our Davao City Library and Information Center, our mobile team will participate, we have books to share that will be displayed there, we have books for children to read and play anything to keep them entertained. There will also be staff, mobile staff, who will teach the children to read),” she told Usapang Pambata: Special Office for Children’s Concern (SOCC) over Davao City Disaster Radio on April 21, 2026.
The library also conducts online kuwentuhan session for children, providing interactive storytelling and shared learning experiences on its Facebook page.
In May 2026, the library’s mobile services will also visit children participating in Flores de Mayo celebrations, offering “education on wheels”, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan.
Firmeza added that although the DCLIC has shifted to a four-day work week under the Executive Order no. 8, operating from 8am to 5pm, they remain committed to delivering quality services for children, ensuring that every district continues to benefit from its programs.
“Naa gihapun ta sa different districts, daghan ta og mga district libraries. You are all welcome and we are ready to serve all the time, especially sa mga children (We are still in different districts, we have many district libraries.
