The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the Davao City Women’s Federation, will spearhead the first City Educational Tour on March 10, 2026, in celebration of National Women’s Month.

National Women’s Month, observed every March, honors the vital role of women in nation-building and promotes gender equality. The celebration is also in line with Proclamation No. 224, s. 1988, which declared the first week of March as Women’s Week and March 8 as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day.

The city educational tour aims to broaden participants’ knowledge of the city’s culture, history, and public services and will gather 32 participants, composed of women coordinators, focal persons, and technical staff from CSWDO.

Ianna Grace Gonzaga, RSW, Technical Staff, Women Welfare Program of Social Welfare Operation Division (SWOD) emphasized that the first educational tour equips women leaders valuable insights into the roles of other city offices from cultural preservation to disaster preparedness.

“Ang kani na tour is for the purpose of awareness and knowing the culture of Davao city and knowing more about the services sa atoang nagka lain lain nga ahensiya sa Davao City. Dili lang sa CSWDO but also other offices na ilahang makita sa city (The purpose of this tour is for awareness, understanding the culture of the city and learning more about the services of our various agencies in the city not only of CSWDO),” she told Madayaw Davao over Davao City Disaster Radio on March 2, 2026.

Gonzaga added that the participants will visit the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), Museo Dabawenyo, Davao City Library and Information Center (CLIC), Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

The educational tour is part of a broader lineup of activities for Women’s Month in Davao City. On March 4, a Women’s Summit will gather representatives from various sectors, while on March 6, the International Women’s Day Parade will take place from Freedom Park to Rizal Park.

Meanwhile, Jade Tajo, RSW Focal Person for the Women Welfare Program of SWOD, also encouraged Dabawenyas to actively participate in community activities because they will ultimately benefit from the city’s program.

“Sa mga kakabaihan, dili ta maulaw na makig ambit, makig duyog sa kung unsa man ang katikaran sa atoang community kay kita raman gihapun ang makinabang ana. Padayon ta sa pag uswag, laban mga inahan og kababaihan (To all women, we should not be afraid to participate and join in whatever activities happening in our community because we are the ones who will benefit from it. Keep going, mothers and women),“ she added. CIO
