The City Government of Davao, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), has officially introduced the Dabawenyo DCplinado modules to private schools, beginning with Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) on August 13, 2026.
The initiative aims to empower the next generation by fostering discipline, respect, and responsibility among Dabawenyouth.
Developed in accordance with City Ordinance No. 0552, Series of 2024, also known as the Dabawenyo DCplinado for the Future Generation, the modules will now be integrated alongside core academic subjects.
In 2024, Davao City formally launched the DCplinado modules among Grade 6 and Grade 10 students at Teodoro L. Palma Gil Elementary School, marking their initial rollout in public schools.
The initiative is a banner program of Mayor Sebastian Duterte, who highlighted discipline as a cornerstone of Davao City’s progress and identity.
In a message delivered by City Councilor Antoinnette G. Principe, Mayor Duterte said the modules are designed to help learners make sound decisions while preparing them to become responsible members of the community.
“As Dabawenyos, we recognize that safety, peace, and mutual respect are strengthened not only through policies and programs, but also through everyday discipline and respectful behavior. These values are especially important to instill in our young learners whose actions and choices are pivotal to their transition to adulthood,” he said.
“As our learners continue their education, may we continue to nurture them through this module and cultivate discipline, respect, and responsibility so that they may be better prepared to make sound choices and take their place as responsible members of the wider community,” Duterte added.
The DCplinado module also seeks to develop well-rounded Dabawenyo citizens grounded on strong moral values and good conduct. Its lessons cover civic responsibility, respect for laws and regulations, cultural sensitivity and gender equality, personal discipline and ethical behavior, information and digital ethics, environmental stewardship, financial literacy, and the culture of security.
Pol Allan D. Leuterio, School President of HCCD, emphasized that DCplinado is more than just a slogan—it represents a commitment anchored in Dabawenyo values, respect for ordinances, and the pursuit of excellence.
“Today’s launch is not merely the unveiling of new instructional materials. It is a renewal of our commitment as school leaders and as a city to work hand in hand in nurturing disciplined, values-driven, and future-ready Dabawenyos,” he added.
Through this expansion, the City Government of Davao continues to advance its vision of developing disciplined, responsible, and values-oriented citizens who will uphold and carry forward the essence of being proudly Dabawenyo. CIO
