The City Health Office (CHO) Dental Division is providing free dental services, as part of the citywide celebration of the Oral Health month, to raise awareness on the importance of dental hygiene and daily oral care.
Dr. Rowena Go, Dental Division Head of CHO, told the City Information Office (CIO) that this initiative ensures that oral health is recognized as a vital public health priority.
“This meaningful celebration highlights the importance of oral health awareness, the value of preventive dental care and the continuous delivery of quality dental services to our communities” she said.
The celebration is aligned with the #Ngiting7020 campaign, which advocates for citizens to reach the age of 70 with at least 20 natural, healthy, and functional teeth.
In line with the celebration, the CHO will bring free dental care services directly to communities at Marilog District on February 10 to 11 2026, at Matina Aplaya on February 23, and Barangay Centro Agdao on February 24, 2026.
Dabawenyos can avail of free oral health education, dental examination, fluoride treatment and dental supplies such as toothbrush, toothpaste and denture adhesives.
Go also stated that starting dental health care at a young age is crucial because dental habits should be established early, allowing children to grow up with strong, healthy teeth and avoid dental problems later in life.
“Ang pinaka best nga buhaton kay mu visit sila sa ilahang dentist, mag toothbrush buntag og gabii before matulog. Dili dapat matulog nga dili maka toothbrush para dili madaot ilahang ngipon og likayan pod nila ang pagkaon sobra nga tamis og mga pilit na pagkaon (The best thing to do is for them to visit their dentist, brush their teeth in the morning and evening before going to bed. They shouldn’t go to sleep without brushing their teeth to prevent damaging their teeth, and they should also avoid eating too much sugary and sticky food),” she added.
As February unfolds, the CHO reminds families that oral health advocacy begins at home, where simple daily practices like brushing twice, limiting sweets, and visiting dentists regularly are simple yet powerful actions that protect children, prevent disease, and build a healthier Davao City. CIO
