The Sangguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday honored 139 Dabawenyo student-athletes who won medals during the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur.
The council recognized the performance of the athletes who shined in Arnis, Basketball, Chess, Dancesport, Pencak Silat, Tennis, Swimming, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Wrestling, Wushu, Football, Billiards, Archery, Karatedo, and Para Games events.
“The accomplishments of the Davao City delegation were made possible through the dedication and sacrifices of student-athletes, coaches, trainers, school administrators, teachers, parents, sports coordinators, and the Davao City Sports Development Division whose collective efforts honor and pride to Davao City and Region XI,” the council resolution reads.
Jullian B Dablo, from Sto. Nino National High School who won gold medal for the Paragames Orthopedic Shotput event said he is grateful to God and the guidance of his coach helped him succeed in his event.
“Feeling po happy po kay first time makasulod diri and wala ko nag expect nga marecognize sa city po. Ok ang support sa city government of Davao kay libre tanan pagkaon allowance ug mga jersey. Hoping po na qualify po sa palarong Pambansa next year and madungagan pa po ang akong medal na nakuha karon (I feel very happy because this is my first time competing here, and I did not expect to be recognized by the city. The support from the Davao City government has been great because everything is provided free, including our meals, allowances, and jerseys. I am hoping to qualify for the Palarong Pambansa next year and add more medals to the ones I have won this year),” he said.
In the resolution, the SP also commended the Davao Eagles of Region XI, the DepEd Region XI and Department of Education- Davao City Division, Davao City Sports Development Division and all Davao City student-athletes, coaches, trainers, school officials, and support personnel for their exceptional performance.
