City Hall employees on Monday attended the kick-off of the weeklong activities for the 31st National Crime Prevention Week.
In line with the observance, the National Police Commission XI, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and other supporting agencies joined the launch of the weeklong activity during the weekly flag ceremony
Napolcom XI Regional Director Ma. Teresa Tuburan-Pacudan said in her speech that for 31 years, the government through Napolcom and its partner stakeholders has been observing the National Crime Prevention Week every first September as mandated by Proclamation No. 461, Series of 1994.
She said that this year’s NCPW highlights the initiatives and achievements of local governments in advancing crime prevention as encapulsated in the theme “Pinalakas na Pamahalaang Lokal para sa Ligtas na Pamayanan: Pagpapatibay ng mga Programa sa Pag-iwas ng Krimen sa Ilalim ng Community and Service Oriented Policing (CSOP).”
“Local governments occupy a critical front line in the crime prevention. They are in unique position to engage directly with their constituents– from most influential sectors to marginalized- enabling them to identify real issues that fuel insecurity and crime,” she said.
She said that crime prevention will not succeed without strong, responsive and empowered local governments.
To bolster collaboration, the CSOP was launched 10 years ago, founded through collaborative partnership among law enforcement agencies, local executives , and the community to promote peace and order ensuring public safety.
“As crime prevention strategy CSOP provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation. It allows stakeholders to confront community problems and identify solution that are feasible, practical, and beneficial for all,” she said.
Pacudan said the presence of strong partnership means a lot in terms of crime prevention.
“Your presence here today is a testament that hope endures. Despite the threats that persist, there is strength in unity and resilience in partnership. Together we can reaffirm the truth that Crime Prevention is Everybody’s Concern,” Pacudan added
During the program every employee present, including those from national government agencies took the Pagtataya ng Mamamayan sa Paghahadlang ng Krimen, a commitment to observe and report any forms of criminality and to become active partners of police officers and the LGU to help them improve their services in the communities.
