The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emergency and Socioeconomic Crisis Response (AITF-CRISIS) has issued resolutions directing offices of the City Hall to reduce fuel consumption, and to observe energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) measures.

Under Resolution No. 1, all offices of the City Government of Davao are asked to reduce their fuel consumption by 15 percent, with the exception of priority offices such as those in the emergency and health sectors.

Davao City Acting City Information Officer Harvey James Lanticse said on Wednesday that the measure is aimed at managing the city’s resources while still able to deliver basic services.

“Ang atong management of resources dinhi mismo sa LGU we want to make sure that while we cushion the impact gusto nato i-ensure sa atong mga kaigsuunan nga magpadayon ang services, especially kaning basic services, urgent na kailangan nila madawat karong mga panahona (Our management of resources here in the LGU—we want to make sure that while we cushion the impact, we also ensure to our fellow citizens that services will continue, especially the basic services that they urgently need to receive during these times),” he said.

Lanticse said that the city government is working on the guidelines on how to reduce its fuel consumption.

“These guidelines [for fuel consumption] are for the LGU. The private sector is encouraged to do the same. Ang mga pribado na kompanya naa pud sila’y energy saving measures–we welcome that, mapasalamaton pud ta sa ilang initiatives to help reduce energy and fuel consumption (These guidelines are for the LGU. The private sector is encouraged to do the same. Private companies also have their own energy-saving measures—we welcome that and we are grateful for their initiatives to help reduce energy and fuel consumption),” he said.

He said that exempted offices include the Public Safety and Security Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Central 911, City Health Office, City Agriculturist Office, City Veterinarian’s Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, City Economic Enterprises, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Mayor’s Office and the DC Bus.

“Dili maapektuhan ang DC Bus. We have already said that during this time mas kinahanglan siya sa mga tao (The DC Bus will not be affected. We have already said that during this time, it is needed more by the people),” he said.

Further, the IATF also approved Resolution No.3, adopting the recommendations of the City Planning and Development Office (CDPDO) on energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) measures for the offices of the City Government of Davao.

Lanticse explained that these conservation efforts include management of lights and aircon usage in offices.

He added that the IATF will conduct meetings twice a month. However, even before that, subcommittee meetings will be held. CIO
