The City Government of Davao, through its Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD) and in partnership with the Task Force (TF) Davao, brought medical and other services closer to the Matigsalug Tribe of Marilog District through the Kulturavan.

On October 1, the ninth Kulturavan brought the various services of government and non-government agencies, including that of the City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Land Transportation Office, Philippine Statistics Authority, Social Security System, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Davao Adventist Hospital, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, PhilHealth, TF Davao, National Bureau of Investigation, City Agriculturist’s Office, and City Civil Registrar’s Office among others.

Other than these services, the importance of cultural knowledge and preservation is also highlighted during the Kulturavan.

“Dito rin po yung venue kung saan itinuturo natin sa mga kabataan natin ngayon with the help of the City Tourism Office, sila po ay nagpadala ng mga spokesperson para ituro sa kabataan ang kahalagahan ng kultura dito sa ating lipunan (This is also a venue for the youth of the community to learn about the importance of culture in our society with the help of spokespersons from the City Tourism Operations Office),” Major Ronnel Avanzado, TF Davao’s Civil Military Operation Officer, said.

“Nagkakaroon din po tayo ng meeting o situation update from the 11 tribes kung ano ang mga concerns nila na kailanga’ng maipaabot sa city through the Kulturavan led by BCCAD and the security cluster (We also conduct situation updates and meetings with the 11 tribes during the Kulturavan to bring their concerns to the city government through BCCAD and the security cluster),” he added.

The City Government of Davao and TF Davao will continue to launch the Kulturavan for the 11 ethnolinguistic groups in the city to bring government services closer and to educate the youth about the importance of culture. Their next stop will be the Bangsa Sama in December. CIO
