Employees of the City Government of Davao on Tuesday showed sportsmanship and camaraderie
while exposing their talents and skills during the 2026 Araw ng Empleyado held at Almendras Gym.
The highlights of the event are the Larong pinoy games and the search for LGU Ambassador and Ambassadress
In a message read by Human Resource Management Office Head Melody Herrera, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte emphasized the crucial role of the city government and its employees. That valuing this role, the employees are also held with high value and importance.
“At the city government we continue to advance our shared responsibility to ensure the
well-being of the Dabawenyos, enforcing laws and regulations, delivering essential services,
providing socio-economic support for our communities, maintaining peace and order advocating
for a better quality of life for everyone. Let this occasion serve as an opportunity for our city government employees, not only to honor and celebrate the hard work and dedication but also recognize their contributions to progressive community development. May this also serve as an avenue to encourage everyone to maintain between work and wellness as this benefits our daily lives and the delivery of our duties,” the mayor said.
The mayor also extended deep gratitude to the employees for their support and enjoined
them to seize the chance and enjoy the event.
“To all city government employees, daghang salamat kaninyong tanan ang atong celebrasyon karong adlawa
dili lamang para magpasidungog kaninyo isip garbo sa atong siyudad apan higayon sab kini para magtapok
maglingaw-lingaw og makig lambigit sa matag usa. It is our hope that we continue to uphold integrity,
accountability and service excellence in whatever we do and to cultivate a positive and supportive work culture (To all city government employees, thank you very much to all of you. Our celebration today is not only to honor you as the pride of our city, but also an opportunity for us to gather, enjoy, and connect with one another. The event closed with the coronation of the winners for Bench Cheer Competition and Larong Pinoy and search for LGU Ambassador and Ambassadress.
The Bench Cheer Champion title was proudly claimed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod. The Davao City Housing Office emerged victorious in Sipa or Takyan. The City Mayor’s Office showcased outstanding performance by winning both the Luksong Tinik and Patintero. Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office demonstrated strength and teamwork by taking the Tug of War, while the City Veterinarian’s Office also excelled in Luksong Lubid.
Crowned as LGU Ambassadress was George Nicole H. Medina, representative of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, while crowned as LGU Ambassador was Kent Jeremy O. Batilo from the City Planning and Development Office.
Beyond the games and pageant the employees also enjoyed entertainment from guest performers bringing life to the event.
