Inventors and innovators across the region converged at a mall’s activity center in the city for the Davao City Inventions and Innovations Expo (DIIE) on June19–21, 2026, where they showcased pioneering works aimed at driving progress.

Held under the theme “Empowering communities through innovation and creativity,” the expo drew participants, not only from Region 11 but also from other parts of the country. Beyond showcasing groundbreaking inventions, the gathering was designed to foster meaningful collaborations among stakeholders and bridge gaps between the market and the inventor community.

Attendees benefited from a series of workshops and lectures focused on strengthening and supporting Filipino inventors across various industries, providing them with practical knowledge and resources to bring their ideas to fruition.

Carlo Alcano, President of the Davao Inventors Association, shared that this year’s DIIE was the first in twenty years.

Julieto C. Mejos, Chairperson of the DIIE 2026, also emphasized that this year’s expo is an essential milestone for the region’s innovators and inventors.

“This year’s exhibition marks an essential milestone as we bring together, possibly all inventors, innovators, and creative researchers in Region 11, not to mention inventors who are from Manila who are here displaying their own inventions under one goal,” he said.

City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by City Councilor Bonz Andre Militar, expressed hopes for the expo to serve as a platform for local inventors to strengthen linkages and promote their inventions.

“May this be an avenue for local inventors, entrepreneurs, and research development professionals and stakeholders across various industries to strengthen linkage, explore new business opportunities, and promote local inventions and craftsmanship amid the rapidly changing commercial science landscape,” he said.

“Let this expo further inspire us to continue empowering local inventors and business practitioners to uphold resilience, adaptability, and dedication as we build a smarter and more sustainable community in the years ahead,” Duterte added.

The DIIE 2026 was more than just a showcase of ingenuity—it was a testament to the enduring spirit of Filipino creativity and resilience. The event has reignited a collaborative spark that promises to propel the region, and the nation, toward a future defined by sustainable solutions and homegrown excellence. CIO
