In honor of the creativity, skills, and talents of Dabawenyo creatives, the City Government of Davao, through the Davao City Office for Culture and the Arts (DCOCA), joins the Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) celebration with activities that promote the growing film industry in Davao City.

In celebration of the PCIM, the DCOCA partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry-Davao City Field Office, the Davao Historical Society, and the FDCP Cinematheque Center-Davao for the Creatives Exchange 2026: Reel Stories Unveiling Davao’s Culture and Heritage through Film and Digital Content on September 24–25, 2026 at the Cinematheque Center-Davao.

The two-day event will feature discussions on the development, promotion and growth of Davao City’s creative ecosystem through digital creation, and an impact storytelling workshop. The event aims to gather stakeholders from the film, audiovisual, and digital content sectors to foster collaboration, innovation, and the growth of the city’s creative industry.

“This year, we are focusing on the film and digital content creation nga diin amoang hatagan og higayon ang atoang katilibgban ilabi na ang siyudad sa Davao kay very very rich ug daghan kaayo ta’g stories to tell because our history, our culture and heritage is very rich (This year, we put the spotlight on film and digital creations wherein we provided them with a platform, especially because Davao City is very rich in history, culture, and heritage—we have a lot of stories to tell),” Oscar Casaysay, Head of the DCOCA, said in an interview.

Dabawenyo creatives, especially local filmmakers and storytellers, are invited to witness the event and take part in the exchange of meaningful creative discourse that would advance the growth of Davao City’s creative industry through film, storytelling, and digital media.

The public are likewise invited to the Lokhalaya 2026: Shaping Co-Creative Futures on September 18–20, 2026 at the Ayala Malls Abreeza. Lokhalaya is a three-day gathering that aims to foster regional creative expression, cross-sector collaboration, and local industry growth through a series of keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. The event will also highlight a feature session on Mindanao Film industry.

Casaysay urged Dabawenyo artists and artisans, especially the younger generation, to continue pursuing their creative passions and continue creating. Dabawenyo creatives are also encouraged to reach out to the DCOCA for programs, initiatives, and support. CIO
