The City Government of Davao allocated Php 3.9million in financial assistance to local government units in Cebu that were affected by the recent earthquake.

The ordinance authorizing the financial aid totalling Php 3.9 million was approved by the 21st City Council on October 21, 2025.

Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, Chairperson of Committee on Finance, Ways and Means, and Appropriations said that the City Mayor will utilize a portion of the 30 percent Quick Response Fund out of the 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund for the calendar year 2025.

The approved allocation will be distributed to Cebu province (Php1,000,000), Php 500,000 for Bogo City and Php 300,000 each for the municipalities of Medellin, Daanbantayan, Tabogon, Madridejos, Sogod, Tabuelan, San Remigio and Borbo.

Dayanghirang also clarified that Davao City remains financially prepared to respond in case of emergencies.

“We still have a balance of Php 207,975,187 and as far as Davao City is concerned, we are still safe and we have enough money,” he said.

Even prior to the approval of the financial aid, the City Government of Davao has already deployed 5,000 food packs a day after the quake to affected communities in Cebu. CIO
