The 21st Davao City Council on Tuesday recognized the achievement of the Sta. Ana Dancesport Team for representing the city in several national and international dancesport competitions.
In a privileged speech, Davao City Councilor Atty. “Achievements like these deserve not only applause but genuine recognition from the people’s government. For these victories are more than medals and trophies. They represent years of sacrifice, discipline, perseverance, training and unwavering commitment to excellence,” Principe said.
Principe specially mentioned athletes Sam Ashlee D. Cameros and Precious Hanna T. Hecele, who earned multiple championship titles and podium finishes in international-standard competitions; Jesteve Eric E. Almendras and Joelie Mae E. The council also recognized dedicated coaches Grelie Mae E. Catamco, Michael Clint G. Lagudao, and Harbie P. Sollorano whose mentorship, patience, and commitment helped shape the young athletes into champions.
“In the age where many distractions may compete for the attention of young people, these athletes chose commitment, dedication, training, and excellence. And that deserves recognition,” Principe said.
She added that the success of the athletes reflected the city’s growing potential as center for excellence not only in academics, governance, and business, but also in culture, arts, and sports development.
“Their victories send a powerful message to every young Dabawenyo: that dreams are valid, excellence is achievable, and hard work can open doors even beyond our borders,” she said.
“To the members of the Sta. Ana Dancesport Team Davao: thank you for bringing pride and honor to our beloved city. Thank you for proving that Dabawenyos can shine with excellence on any stage in the world,” Principe added. CIO
