A Davao City councilor has commended the city’s Safety and Security Cluster for their steadfast service and unwavering vigilance throughout the month-long Kadayawan Festival activities, helping ensure that thousands of Dabawenyos and visitors could celebrate safely and peacefully.
Councilor Atty. Luna Acosta, Chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Public Safety, conveyed her appreciation during her privilege speech on Tuesday, underscoring the dedicated team working behind the colorful parades, cultural presentations, and festive events to safeguard the public.
“While the public sees the program, the activities, and the celebrations, our personnel are constantly assessing risks, monitoring the situation, managing crowds, responding to concerns, and making sure that our constituents can participate in the event safely and peacefully. The successful and orderly conduct of this event is a testament to the preparedness, coordination, discipline, and professionalism of our Security and Safety Cluster,” she said.
Recognizing the men and women who helped make the festival’s celebrations safe and orderly, Councilor Acosta formally proposed the adoption of a resolution commending the safety and security personnel for their dedicated service in ensuring the safety, security, and orderly conduct of the 41st Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.
The resolution acknowledges the collective efforts of the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO), City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRMMO) – Central 911, Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Task Force Davao (TFD), Philippine Coast Guard XI (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection XI (BFP) – Davao City Fire District, City EOD and Canine Unit XI (CECU) Davao, Ancillary Services Unit (ASU), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Canine Group (EOD K9), City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Regional Maritime Unit (RMU), and the City Health Office (CHO).
She likewise emphasized that maintaining public safety is not the responsibility of a single office, but a shared duty that depends on strong coordination and cooperation among various sectors.
“Public safety is not achieved by one office or one individual alone. It is the result of strong coordination and collective responsibility. The seamless cooperation among our security forces, emergency responders, traffic personnel, medical teams, organizers, and other concerned offices demonstrates what can be achieved when everyone works toward one common objective and that is, to protect our people and ensure that every event is safe, peaceful, and successful,” she added.
