The 21st Davao City Council on Tuesday approved on third and final reading the Php 1.25 billion Supplemental Budget 1, comprising a budget for the purchase of more Davao City buses and development of a digital application for its monitoring.
The ordinance covers the fund for the General Fund Proper, Development Fund and Economic Enterprises in the total amount of Php 1,253,541,058.86.
The General Fund now has an addition allocation of Php 891, 658,249.86, the Development Fund got Php 333,250,000 and Economic Enterprises got Php 15, 646,000.
Based on the ordinance, the executive department has certified it as necessary and urgent.
“The budget has been finally approved, now these documents will be sent to the City Mayor for approval and the rest, of course, some of those items will be properly implemented including the digital application, the purchase of buses, and many items of the budget. All of these will pass through bidding based on the auditing rules and procedures,” said Committee on Finance Ways and Means Chairperson, Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang in a media interview Tuesday.
Dayanghirang had earlier said that under SB 1, Php 200 million has been earmarked for the purchase of buses and the digitalization component.
The City Government of Davao has confirmed the procurement of 20 additional electric-powered buses to expand the DC Bus fleet, which is currently made up of 10 units.
The purchase of these buses is part of the city’s commitment for Dabawenyos to enjoy reliable, safe, comfortable, eco-friendly and sustainable transport services. CIO
