The 21st Davao City Council on Thursday approved on third and final reading the Php 15.8 billion budget for 2026.

The measure which was unanimously approved on second reading on Tuesday following the presentation of the 17-page committee report highlighting the sources of funds, the breakdown of the expenditure program per fund account, and the sectoral classifications.

The committee report revealed that the total fund for 2026 which is 10.8 percent higher or by Php 1,545,614,781 compared to the 2025 budget of Php 14,300,449,654.

This increase is attributed to the 14.86 percent increase in the City’s National Tax Allotment for 2026 equivalent to Php 1,312,237,121 and the projected 4.26 percent increase in local sources equivalent at Php 230,773,600.

This upward trend in NTA share is attributed to the continued recovery from the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the 2026 expenditure program by fund account the Php 15,846,064,435 will be divided into three. The bulk or 86.16 percent (Php 13,652,181,390) is allocated for the General Fund; 12.80 percent (Php 2,028,075,660) is allocated for the Development Fund; and 1.04 percent or (Php 165,807,385) is allocated for Economic Enterprises.

The General Fund covers expenditures for personnel services, maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE), and capital outlays of the various departments, offices, and units of the City Government of Davao, excluding the Economic Enterprises and the Development Fund.

The Development Fund covers the infrastructure projects to be implemented for development infrastructure projects for general public services, social development, economic development, and environmental development.

The fund for economic enterprises will support the operation of five public markets; two slaughterhouses; operation of Sta. Ana Port; operation of 11 public cemeteries; operation of the Davao City Recreation Center (DCRC); operation of Magsaysay Park. CIO
