The Davao City Rehabilitation Treatment Center for Drug Dependents (DCRTCDD) is eyeing to strengthen the monitoring and extension of its services as part of aftercare for its residents.
DCRTCDD Officer-In-Charge Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during the I-Speak Media forum on Thursday, bared that they will create the Davao City Center for Empowerment and Rehabilitation System– an innovative project that will utilize an electronic application that Persons with Substance Dependency can use.
The app is targeted to be used by drug users who are in the process of reintegration in the communities after completing the in-house holistic rehabilitation, which lasts a minimum of six months at the center.
Schlosser said that through the app, mental health services are much easier to access through blended (online) and face-to-face consultations.
“Ang counseling and rehab sessions are done face-to-face, however, it will also be nice if you would tandem it with electronic application which the PSUD can use while they are in their respective communities,” she said.
“For example, whenever they feel depressed they can have initial consultation through the app, this is the vision of the app,” she added.
Responsible agencies for monitoring PSUDs can use the system to monitor them. At the same time it is also part of their vision to use the electronic application to link PSUDs to scholarship grants, job opportunities, and livelihood opportunities in partnership with various city government divisions or offices.
“The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Department of Health (DOH) can also utilize this app. Relevant items that can be used by the Persons with Substance Use Disorders (PSUDs) may be posted. It will also be a platform for PSUDs who want to continue their learning through scholarship grants local and abroad,” she said.
Schlosser is positive that the application will be materialized soon with the help of the very supportive local government administration.
“I hope that in the coming days we can intensify the monitoring and services for our PSUDs,” Schlosser said.
The DCRTCDD just celebrated its 22nd anniversary last October 30, 2025. The center, as of November, has 91 residents.
The center is located at Purok 7, Barangay Bago Oshiro, Manambulan-UP Road, Tugbok, Davao City. CIO
