A total of 91 barangay captains from selected barangays in the city were among the first batch of participants in the Public Safety and Security Office’s (PSSO) Multi-Sectoral Security and Safety Awareness Forum on April 23.
Since 2025, the PSSO has been conducting security forums for managers and security operations personnel of malls, hotels, and other establishments to raise awareness of peace and order, as well as necessary safety and security protocols.
Aycee A. Romando, PSSO’s Administrative Officer, told the City Information Office (CIO) that the PSSO aims to reach the grassroots level through this forum and remind communities that the city’s safety and security rely on collaboration between the safety and security cluster and the public.
“Gusto sad namo mapaabot, especially sa barangay through ani na forum, nga the safety and security of Davao City is not only being done by the our safety and security clusters but also with the cooperation of the people from the barangay. It is supposed to be with the cooperation of the community as well (We want to convey, especially to the barangays, through this forum, that the safety and security of Davao City is not only the responsibility of our safety and security clusters, but also with the cooperation of the people from the barangays. It should be in cooperation with the community as well),” she said.
During the forum, representatives from the safety and security cluster—including the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Davao City Police Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, PSSO, and Task Force Davao—gave lectures on the following topics: Awareness of Community Terrorist Groups, Knowing Your City, the Role of PSSO in Safety and Security, Culture of Security, Davao City’s Crime Rates, and Barangay Peace and Order Awareness.
The PSSO aims to host the second batch of the security forum in the third quarter of this year. CIO
