A total of 2,008 violators of the city’s Anti-Smoking Ordinance was apprehended by the Vices Regulations Unit in the first quarter of 2026, as part of its strengthened implementation of the ordinance.

Davao City has been implementing an Anti-Smoking Ordinance since 2002. This ordinance prohibits smoking and vaping in public places, including public transport, enclosed spaces, and other public areas.

From January to March 2026, the VRU collected a total of P2,818,500 in fines from anti-smoking violations, and liquor ban violations.

Jacy Jay Francia, Head of the VRU, reminded the public anew to follow the city’s Anti-Smoking Ordinance and Liquor ban.

“Sa kanunay ang Vices Regulations Unit nagapahimangno sa publiko sa pag-sunod kanunay sa Anti-Smoking Ordinance ug sa atoang Sobriety Ordinance ug Liquor Code (The Vices Regulations Unit is reminding the public to follow the city’s Anti-Smoking, Sobriety, and Liquor Code ordinances),” he said.

Individuals caught violating these ordinances will be fined Php 3,000 for Anti-Smoking, and Php 3,000 for Liquor ban violations. A higher fine of Php 5,000 for the first offense will be imposed on establishments caught selling liquor or cigarettes or both to minors. CIO
