The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) distributed cash assistance from April 15 to April 17 to families of OFWs affected by the ongoing Middle East conflict at the CSWDO Office along Magallanes St., Davao City.

A total of 308 families received Php 5,000 each in assistance.

According to OFWCC Head Gilda Salvaña, this is part of the continuing Aid in Crisis Situation rolled out by their office for OFWs and their families since the OFWCC was established.

“Naka-focus lang ning OFW crisis center sa families sa OFW na nabilin diri Davao City. Sa mga residente sa Davao City (The OFW Crisis Center is focused only on the families of OFWs who were left behind here in Davao City. For residents of Davao City),” Salvaña said, adding that those who are from outside Davao are referred to their respective LGUs and agencies.

Salvaña also said that the assistance to families of OFWs will not expire as long as there are clients and households experiencing distress.

The OFWCC, aside from financial assistance, also provides food and non-food aid, psychosocial intervention, and referral services to other concerned agencies.

Salvaña added that for families to avail of cash assistance, they must show proof that the OFWs are indeed working abroad, such as a contract or working visa, as means of verification. They are also required to present an authorization letter to avoid conflicting or duplicate claimants.

Claimants or family members eligible to claim are direct dependents and not extended family members.

They may reach the center through the 24/7 hotline: 0962 996 6520 / Telephone: 082 295 3500; email: ofwcenter.davaocity@gmail.com
