The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), provided assistance to victims of the road crash in Barangay Marilog Proper.
The incident occurred on April 11 when a wing van crashed into the Multi-purpose Gym beside the Barangay Hall of Marilog Proper, claiming six lives and injuring six others.
Julie P. Dayaday, Head of the CSWDO, bared in an interview that among the casualties is a couple who attended the activity that was held at the gym and a 71-year-old bystander.
She said the CSWDO has already provided psychological first aid to the affected families. The office also helped facilitate burial assistance for those who died in the accident.
“I-facilitate nato ang funeral bills with Lingap and then the City Government of Davao will also extend financial assistance kapag nahuman na nato tanan og proseso ang ilahang documents (We will facilitate the funeral bills with Lingap, and the City Government of Davao will also extend financial assistance once we are done processing their documents),” Dayaday said.
“Kining for the couple nga nabiyaan ang upat ka anak, i-monitor g’yud nato ni siya kay this time dili pa g’yud nato ma-assess kay i-identify pa nato ang guardian sa upat ka bata (As for the couple who left behind four children, we will continue to monitor them because we cannot assess their situation yet, as we are still identifying the guardians of the four children),” she added.
Out of the six injured in the accident, three were taken to the Southern Philippines Medical Center and are already in stable condition.
The city government of Davao also reminded the public, especially road users, to follow traffic laws to ensure the safety of pedestrians and fellow motorists. CIO
