The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) further strengthened its advocacy against juvenile delinquency, highlighting the need for early intervention and stronger family support.
“Gipakusgan namo karon ang atoang family development sessions, mga parenting education. Nag-school-to-school na mi karon, and ang atoang communities through sa atoang mga child development centers, sa atoang mga organized groups, sa sectoral, sa atoang mga solo parent, senior citizens, and even youth sectoral groups (We’ve strengthened our family development sessions like parenting education, We’ve also gone school-to-school as well as in grassroots communities through our child development centers and our organized sectoral groups including our solo parents, senior citizens, and even youth groups),” Fulgencia Autida, Acting Division Chief of CSWDO’s Child and Youth Welfare Division, said during the ISpeak Media Conference on Thursday.
“Gina-intensify g’yud namo ang amoang advocacy kay dili na nato hulaton nga mudaghan pa ang cases [sa juvenile delinquency] (We intensified the implementation of our youth welfare advocacy because we don’t want cases of juvenile delinquency to increase),” she added.
The CSWDO also manages the Bahay Pag-asa for Boys, a residential care facility for Children-in-Conflict with the Law (CICL) and Children at Risk (CAR). The children in the facility are provided with education programs, psychological intervention, and capability building to prepare them for when they are ready to be reintegrated to the community.
The City Government of Davao, through the CSWDO, continues to apply the principles of restorative justice in implementing its ordinances, projects, programs, and services for the welfare of the youth and children. CIO
