The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) strengthened its call for parents to enroll their children aged 0 to 14 years old to the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program to help prepare them for formal education.
Designed for holistic child development, the program places a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, moral values, and basic competencies, equipping children with the confidence and independence to thrive when they transition to upper grade levels.
“Naa’y programa ang gobyerno for early childhood and development, augmentation ni sa inyo’ng pagmatuto sa inyong mga anak (The government has an early childhood care and development program that will assist you in guiding your children),” Julie P. Dayaday, Head of the CSWDO, said in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio.
“I-enroll ninyo ang inyong mga kabataan didto sa mga child development centers nato. Libre man ni, wala’y bayad (Enroll your children in our child development centers. This is free),” she urged parents.
Dayaday explained that the centers help children overcome separation anxiety, learn to interact with peers, recognize basic numbers and colors, and practice proper values.
She also said that the CSWDO operates two mobile ECCD units that visit barangays without existing centers around the Poblacion area.
In addition, the office conducts seminars on effective parenting to further guide mothers and fathers in raising their children and preparing them for the next stage of their education.
Interested parents may visit the ECCD centers in their barangays or coordinate with their barangay social workers for more information. CIO
