The City Government of Davao on Monday sent relief goods and recovery personnel from various agencies to assist severely affected areas struck by the Cotabato Trench-generated magnitude 7.8 earthquake on June 8, 2026.
The city sent 4,000 boxes of relief goods and 3,000 one-liter bottles of drinking water to General Santos City, Sarangani, and Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur.
A 42-member team, composed of personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), and the City Mayor’s Office (CMO), Security Cluster, and other frontline offices, was also sent.
The quake displaced thousands of families across the affected areas, where aftershocks are still a daily occurrence.
Last week, the City Government of Davao, in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XI, supported the delivery of drinking water to the earthquake-affected communities.
The CDRRMO likewise assisted in the medical evacuation of patients from Sarangani to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City to ensure they receive the necessary medical care. CIO
