Persons with disabilities (PWDs) living in remote barangays no longer need to travel to the city to avail themselves of free government services, as the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) has joined the Serbisyo Caravan, which delivers assistance to far-flung communities.

Atty. Redendo Martinez, Head of PDAO, said that they have aligned their programs with the Serbisyo Caravan to ensure that essential services, such as PWD ID issuance and free legal consultation, will be closer to the beneficiaries homes.

“Naa na’y mga caravan na amoa nang apilan para sa far flung areas. So, dili na sila mabalaka. Karon bulana, February, naa nami’y schedule for Caravan (We already have joined the caravans for far-flung areas. So, they don’t have to worry anymore. This month, February, we already have a schedule for the Caravan),” he told Serbisyo Dabawenyo: City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) over Davao City Disaster Radio on February 2, 2026.

On January 30, 2026, PDAO also reached Brgy. Pandaitan in Paquibato District, where 30 PWDs received assistance.

He added that the initiative is designed to ease the burden of PWDs by not traveling to the city center anymore just so they could access local government services.

“As much as possible, ang serbisyo, mao nagyu’y mudoul sa ilaha. Dili na sila muadto dria sa syudad para maka avail sa serbisyo kundi ang gobyerno, ang syudad sa Davao na mismo ang muadto sa ilahang kasigbit na lugar para mahatagan sila og serbisyo (As much as possible, they don’t have to come to the city anymore to avail of the service instead, the government, the city of Davao itself, will go to their areas to provide them with the service),” he added.

Meanwhile, Martinez also clarified that there are 36,000 registered PWDs that are qualified for the annual financial assistance program, which provides Php 1,500 subsidy per beneficiary.

The distribution of the subsidy is tentatively scheduled for June or July 2026.
