Davao City is set to host the IRONMAN 70.3 anew on March 22, 2026.
Next year’s IRONMAN marks its fifth edition or fifth year of being held in the city following positive strong reactions from participants and visitors during the IRONMAN 70.3 DAVAO in 2024.
“After presenting a new course, the Coastal Road, in 2024, people gave us a high mark. This is also one of the highest anticipated triathlons,” Princess Galura, General Manager of Sunrise Events, said.
Atty. Tristan Dwight Domingo, Assistant City Administrator for Administration, added during the official launching of the event, that the triathlon also brought in economic advantages for the city.
He added that events like IRONMAN, especially the Guapa Dabawenya race, might have helped inspire Dabawenyos to be more fit.
The fifth edition of the race features a new logo, and several key updates. These include the IRONKIDS aquathlon, and the Sunrise SPRINT.
The Guapa Dabawenya event will also feature more running distances: 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers.
Galura said that the additional distances for Guapa Dabawenya was driven by the booming interest of Dabawenyos in running.
A new bike course was also introduced. Unlike the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 90-kilometer bike race that traversed the road leading to Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3’s bike race will now traverse along the Davao Bukidnon Road.
Registration for IRONMAN 70.3 Davao opened on October 3. Interested athletes and teams can find more details and updates on the official IRONMAN 70.3 Davao Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/share/1AXv1hYybi/. CIO
