The cheers of the crowd and the energy of athletes filled the Davao City Recreation Center as the Duaw Davao Volleyball league 2026 crowned its champions last June 7, 2026.
Willenito P. Tormis Jr., Officer-in-Charge of City Tourism Operation Office (CTOO) told the City Information Office (CIO) that the league is not only a way to encourage relaxation and healthy activity but also a platform for the youth to showcase their athletic abilities and other talents.
“Importante gyud ang sports because ang sports mao ni siya ang way to not only just relax. But, also recreation pod siya nga activity for others. Kani pod ang atoang way nga mag pa league kay para ma promote ang ‘Yes to Sports, No to Drugs’. Kini ang atoang programa nga mga sports events, isip suporta pod ni sa mga kabataan labi na nga daghan kaayo sila og mga talento sa sports and uban pa nga mga talent na pwede nila ipakita (Sports are really important because this not only a way to relax but also a recreational activity for others. This initiative is also our way of organizing leagues to promote ‘Yes to Sports, No to Drugs’. Our sports event programs are also a support for the youth, especially since they have a lot of talents in sports and other talents that they can showcase),” he said.
In the women’s division, Sarangani Province’s SOX-VGBM emerged as champions, followed by UM-WVT of Davao City in second place and Boss Shoti of Davao City in third.
In the men’s division, Ozamiz City’s Top Secret claimed the championship crown, with LBA Shokudo of Davao City securing second place and B-One of Ozamiz City taking third.
The Champions were awarded Php 100,000 while the second place took home Php 50,000, while the third place earned Php 20,000, with consolation awards also given to recognize the efforts of all participating teams.
Amet Samuel Bituin of Far Eastern University, representing LBA Shokudo, also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of Dabawenyos, encouraging the youth to continue supporting volleyball and to keep striving until they reach their goals.
“So far, sobrang ganda and then sobrang saya ng mga kasama ko, very accommodating din sila. First time ko po dito sa Davao and nakita ko din na halos team is palaban. Continue to support Volleyball lang and then huwag lang titigil hanggat naabot niyo na ang goal niyo and thank you din sa Shokudo Davao (So far, everything is great, and my companions are very happy, they are also very accommodating. It’s my first time here in Davao, and I also witnessed that all teams are determined. Just continue to support volleyball and don’t stop until you reach your goal, and thank you also to Shokudo Davao),” Bituin added. CIO
