As part of the celebration of the 100 years of the City Hall and the 89th Araw ng Dabaw activities, the City Government of Davao offers a month-long projection mapping of 100 years of City Hall, running from March 1 to 31.

The 3D projection, launched during the Pasiugdang Pagsaulog on March 1, showcased Davao City’s Icons: the Mt. Apo, Durian, Waling-waling, the Philippine Eagle, and the 11 tribes.

It also presented Davao City’s safety and security offices that ensured the security and safety of Dabawenyos.

It paid tribute to Former President and Davao City Mayor-elect Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) Officer-In-Charge, Winnelito Tormis Jr., in a recent interview with Madayaw, said they intended the 3D projection to feature the city’s progress, as well as the past and present of Davao.

“Ang i-project gyud nato ang history sa Davao City, and siyempre makita pud nato ang old image sa City-Hall. Makita gyud sa Dabawenyos ang before and after ug kung giunsa pag-abot sa city kung unsa siya karon (What we’ll be projecting there is the history of Davao City, and of course, you’ll also see the old image of City Hall. Dabawenyos will truly get to see the before and after, and how the city has evolved into what it is today),” Tormis said.

He added that the 3D mapping show is only a start, as they plan to include the same activity in other touristic events observed yearly, such as the Kadayawan and Pasko Fiesta.

“Sa mga sunod na events, makahatag pata og more colors, designs, and creatives (In the upcoming events, we’ll be able to showcase even more colors, designs, and creative elements),” Tormis said.

Tormis added that for the incoming city celebration, the 3D projection is targeted to run every hour from 6-10 pm. However on March 1, it will run a full show after the opening program.

This is not the first time that Davao City has staged a 3D mapping show for Araw ng Dabaw though, as it has previously conducted the same activity, which drew Dabawenyos to visit City Hall for the exciting display.

But this year’s show promises to offer a unique experience due to the repainting of City Hall as part of the 100-year celebration. CIO
