In line with the city’s thrust to provide a transport system that prioritizes the safety and comfort of Dabawenyos, the City Government of Davao officially launched the Davao City Interim Bus System or DC Bus on Thursday.

With ten 12-meter long low-entry buses equipped with an intelligent bus fleet system, the DC Bus will serve as an interim solution to the growing and urgent need for more transportation options during peak hours.

“The DC Bus Project was developed to help alleviate and provide additional and interim options for all of us, particularly during peak hours when transportation choices become even more limited in the city,” Atty. Tristan Dwight P. Domingo, Davao Bus Project Manager, said during the launching ceremony.

Each of these buses can carry up to 90 passengers with 46 seating capacity, two seats reserved for Persons with Disability (PWDs), Senior Citizens, and pregnant women, and at least 15 standing passengers.

Twenty-two bus drivers, who were also former public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers, will be operating the buses along with 22 CSU personnel.

Domingo also said that a total of 124 bus stops has been set-up to support safe loading and unloading along the city’s streets.

Set to operate early December, Dabawenyos in the northern and southern part of the city may avail of the service for free.

It will ply the streets during peak hours from 6 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 9 pm, serving as a sweeper transport service complementary to the existing Peak Hours Augmentation Bus System (PHABS) and Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs). CIO
