Davao City is set to showcase a new cultural experience with the launching of the Duaw Davao Walking Tour: Chinatown Walk on June 13, 2026.
Willenito P. Tormis Jr., Officer-in-Charge of City Tourism Operation Office (CTOO), told the City Information Office (CIO) that the tour was created to give Dabawenyos something new while empowering local, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and celebrate the diverse businesses that thrive in the city.
“Gibuhat gyud nato ni kay primarily because gusto nato tagaan ang mga Dabawenyos og something new. Kay kung mapansin ninyo naay Chinatown Crawl sa Manila, naa pod sa Cebu, naa pod sa Iloilo. So, kita pod dria sa Davao gibuhatan pod nato ni siya ug kaning food and walking experience tour kay we really want na iempower, not just our SMEs but also our Dabawenyos nga naga thrive gyud sa mga nagka lain lain na business diria sa Davao City (We did this primarily because we want to give Dabawenyos something new. Because if you notice, there is a Chinatown Crawl in Manila, there is also one in Cebu, and there is also one in Iloilo. So, here in Davao, we also created this food and walking experience tour because we want to empower, not just our SMEs but also our Dabawenyos who are thriving in various businesses here in Davao City),” he said.

The walking tour begins at Sta. Ana Port, the historic center of early trade between Chinese merchants and Dabawenyos. From there, participants will pass through the Unity Arch, the symbolic gateway to Chinatown, before visiting Kianbee Trading to learn about the textile industry.
The itinerary continues with a Php 100 shopping challenge at DCLA, a stop at Farmacia SuyHoo, and visits to Bohol Trading for abaca and indigenous materials then the RTW shops, and the old NCCC Department Store.
Participants will also enjoy a coffee break at Four Cafe, explore the legacy of hopia and dice bread at Davao Star Bakery, and concludes at the Friendship Arch with snacks at either the Davao Famous Restaurant or Shanghai Restaurant.
