Dula Kadayawan, one of the main events of Kadayawan 2025, which was held on Saturday August 16 at People’s Park, was able to draw out the best players of Indigenous People and Moro tribes, who displayed unity, respect, camaraderie, and strength during their tribal games.
During the event, the IP tribes competed in 11 games– Kakasing, Pana, Bibinayo, Totaringki, Solopot, Siklot, Aakrow or Karang Relay, Sisibow, Bubuntug, Tug-of-war, and Sosakoro/Panikado. Meanwhile, the Moro tribes competed in eight games— Sipa sa Manggis, Kagkingking, Kapakita sa Tig, Kanggarotaya, Katuntol sa Tampila, Kambaebae, Kakorkor and, Sipa sa Lama.

Hailed as the overall winner in the Moro Category is the Bangsa Kagan. Meanwhile, the Ata Tribe is this year’s overall mchampion in the Dula Kadayawan IP category, with the Matigsalug tribe coming in as first-runner-up and the Bagobo Klata as second runner-up.
Bangsa Kagan also emerged as the winner in the tug-of War friendship game between Moros and IPs.
Bangsa Kagan Deputy Mayor Michael Mohamad, on behalf of the 11 tribes, extended his gratitude to the City Government of Davao and Acting City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte for the successful Dula sa Kadayawan.
He said that the Dula sa Kadayawan was more than just a competition. It was a showcase of unity among and within the tribes.
“Ang dula Kadayawan dili lang kompetisyon. Usa pud ni sa pagpakita sa panaghiusa, pag respetohay, pagpakita sa atong kaanyag og kanindot sa kultura. Daghan salamat sa tanan, magbalikbalik ta puhon sunod tuig. Padayon ang panaghiusa ug pagpakita sa atong kultura (The Dula sa Kadayawan is not just a competition. It is also a way of showing unity and respect, it is a way of showing our rich culture. Thank you everyone and may we see each other again next year. Let us continue to show our unity in showcasing our culture),” Mohamad said.
Now in its 11th year, the Dula Kadayawan continues to become an avenue to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the tribes, allowing games to be played and to be remembered skillfully by the younger generation. CIO.
