Around 100 Dabawenyos joined the Dabawenyo Ko: Heritage Walking Tour on March 14, 2026 at the historic Davao City Hall, as part of the 89th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

The heritage tour was designed to bring Davao’s rich history closer to the people by showcasing cultural landmarks and historic sites that shaped the city’s identity.

Gracie Plata, Tourism Relations Specialist of the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), emphasized that the tour is part of the city’s continuing efforts to strengthen cultural awareness, ensuring that heritage is not only remembered but also experienced and documented by the community.

“It’s difficult to bring them down here for museum or for suroy. So, ang gibuhat sa city, we brought the museum to them (It’s difficult to bring them down here to go to our museum or for a tour. So, what the city did was to bring the museum to them),” she said.

The participants explored iconic sites such as Osmeña Park that was recognized as the site of the first Spanish settlement in Davao. Followed by the San Pedro Cathedral, the city’s first and oldest Catholic church, the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building, Rizal Park, the Oboza Ancestral House, Quezon Park and the Davao City Hall which is celebrating its centennial year.

In the afternoon, the CTOO also conducted the Davao Heritage Photo Walk which welcomed photographers and enthusiasts to capture images of the city’s historic landmarks and cultural spots.

Plata added that the pioneering activities allowed participants not only to learn about city’s rich history but to also creatively preserve it through photography.

The CTOO invites all Dabawenyos to join the next Dabawenyo Ko: Heritage Walking Tour on March 21, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at San Pedro – City Hall of Davao.
